1967 912 REFRESH

Hi everybody,
thought i'd share my cars current journey.
Bought it back in 1997, Californian import, LA area.
1967 912 in Bahama yellow.
Used it fairly regularly (spring/summer) over the next 9 years.
No major dramas, kept regularly serviced, bits and bobs like new webers, distributor, exhaust etc.

At Stanford Hall...
Due to other commitments car took a year off which inadvertently turned into a 7 year hibernation.
Then just over a year ago i decided it had slept too long.
Reading the many excellent threads on DDK has been a big factor in getting me motivated and also a great
info source & reference point for some of the tasks that would be needed of me.
So a refresh rather than a restoration was the plan and the budget.
To make a fairly honest car slightly better.
The car was in storage at a friends workshop. The plan was for me to strip the car down as far as we were going
and then he'd organise any welding, bodywork and painting. Then i'd put it all back together again. Simples.
It was never going to be a quick job which suited me as my spare time was in short supply and i could also start
checking out & slowly buying all the bits i was going to need to replace.
Rear seat pans really solid, just a bit of surface rust.
The car had been painted at least 3 times, there was evidence of some filler work and as with most rust free Californian imports there was some rust, thankfully not too much.
Because of all these factors it was decided the paint needed to come off.
New sheet metal that was needed included one wing, one outer sill, rear licence panel and a quarter floor section (sadly only come in halves). Other than a few other little snots the rest seemed to be really solid, phew!
