DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

My '72 car had lost all brake pressure when I wanted to drive it yesterday (fortunately it was parked in my garage at the time).

Having investigated further I found a pedal cluster full of brake fluid and a leak onto the garage floor from beneath the small reinforcement panel underneath (and quite a bit of bare metal exposed due to the properties of the brake fluid) .

I'm going to pull the pedal assembly out and guess that a seal will have gone in the master cylinder. Are repairs kit available for this and how easy is the job to complete?

It's a real pitty as my pedal pressure was real good until this happened - hopefully I can get it fixed pretty quickly.

Any words of wisom will be greatly appreciated.

The parts to rebuild the master cylinder are available from the usual places (Roger Bray sells it for ~£60) but I think the last time I bought a new master cylinder it was ~£90 so decided this was the better option.

I think I bought the m/cylinder from Eurocar Parts.

Mine needed replacing last year and like Andy, I decided replacement at under £100 it was faster, safer and more likely to be right first time.

For a laugh, I put the old one on ebay (as a faulty item) and some kind American gentleman bought it for $25
