A UK project from NZ

I have posted messages a few times but thought it about time to introduce myself properly. I am Graeme and I stay in central Scotland. I have had a long interest in Porsche with my first Porsche memory being from Condorman the movie. As not even a teenager when I saw this I was obviously able to see past the lame acting and not very fast car chase.
So fast forward a few years and I have owned a 944 S2 (practical enough to get a double buggy in the boot for my daughters), a 986 Boxster S (bought as a Cat-D project) and a 987 Boxster. I wanted to own an early 911 and also to have a project so I bought the 911T being sold by Alex (buzz808) in New Zealand. That meant selling this:

From what I have established so far, the car started life in Northern Ireland in December 1971 then came to the mainland in October 1979. It changed from its original tangerine to white in 1981 before leaving the UK in 1983. Reportedly it did not meet the strict no rust controls on arriving in NZ and was never put on the road. It has been idle since with locals seemingly helping themselves to various parts. With returning it to the UK, it means it has done 24,000 miles in 30 years all on one tank of fuel! The car survived a few weeks in a container including a full day circling in the North Sea before Christmas as it was too choppy to get in to port.
I intend to restore it as clearly stripping off the white paint and changing the oil won’t be enough to get it through an MOT. I hope to take inspiration from some of the restorations already shown on the forum but the bar has been set high even just for 72MY tangerine 911s!
I’ll start a thread in the restoration section at some point and post some more photos then but, if any DDKers are passing you are welcome to stop in and see how it is going / share their experiences / laugh.
