914 steering wheel on 911?

Is it posible to fitt a 914 (380mm) wheel on a 911?

Yes - the splines are the same but there are a number of subtle differences between the 400mm & 380mm wheels & some (simple) modifications are necessary to fit the smaller wheel to a 911...

(For the record, if some one back reads this thread)
I have spoken to a very serious 914 fanatic that clames there is a differens in the splinse for the 914/4 and 914/6. According to him a 914/6 wheel is the only one you can fit to a 911.
So this might only be folklore, but I fond it a bit to important not put up here as something to look in to for anyone how is walking down the 380 mm road.

I have spoken to a very serious 914 fanatic that clames there is a differens in the splinse for the 914/4 and 914/6. According to him a 914/6 wheel is the only one you can fit to a 911.

All of the 380mm 914 & 914/6 wheels have the same splines - the difference is that the 914/4 wheels require the modifications in my pm whereas the 914/6 will bolt straight on without any modifications.

That's what i had always understood too :
914/4 had a VW parts-bin steering column
914/6 had 911 steering column
and the spline count was different .
I thought i had confirmed this when i once tried and failed to fit a VW boss on to my 914/6

No info - just personal experience.
I have had 30-40 914/4 & 914/6 steering wheels over the past couple of years & each one was subsequently fitted to a 911.
