DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Hello everyone.

My name is Matt and own a 1969 Porsche 912.

My back ground is an engineer specialising in turbochargers and I currently work for VW in Germany.

I have always hankered after a "project" and having moved to Germany, I now have the means and space to be able to restore a classic. Before my time as an engineer I was an automotive mechanic in the UK. My father in law is also retired spanner man, so between us we hope to make a good job of the restoration.

I bought the Porsche in 2011. I have nicknamed her "Lucy" and she is in effect my other woman! I have progressed so far as stripping the vehicle and she is now been media blasted.

I have been following a number of other projects on the DDK site with much interest.

Will you be applying some of your turbo expertise to the motor?

My plan is to take her back 100% to original. I have the certificate of authenticity from Porsche and also the avaliable options for that year. I don't intend to deviate from what would have been avaliable in '69

The colour should be Irish green, which for an Englishman in Germany is more or less British Racing Green. I am aiming for 120 P.S from the engine and again will be keeping the mods hidden so that she looks as she would have all those years ago. 1000kg and 120 P.S with a nice fat torque curve should be more than enough.

The car as bought was a real mess. Wrong colour, wrong 964 seats and mirrors, wrong interior. So basically I have had to start from scratch. We have built our own chassis jig/rotisserie to make life easier. I am very lucky that we live on the site of an old mill, so there is plenty of space.
