DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Hi all,

Thought I'd post a short introduction post explaining my involvement in this passion that is sure to ruin me sooner than later. As of now I have never owned a Porsche nor driven a pre impact bumper one, but I am looking to learn more about the early 911's so that when I decide to pull the trigger I make the right choice. My Porsche experience is from my fathers pride and joy, a 993 C2 which for all intents and purposes is a father/son project, and a Panamera I got to borrow while taking the 993 for a service in Hamburg. All too modern for this forum I know.

I'll round off by posting a picture of my dream (minus the rally style lights) with the colour combination that I prefer. Just so happy in a world that tends to opt for resale value and as a result turns to black, white and grey.



(American bumpers also not part of the dream though I don't mind much)

Welcome George, bahama yellow if I'm not mistaken and it is a lovely colour. Of course the colour is only one part of the decision making process have you any preference on engine size, year or specification?

Thank you guys for such a warm welcome! As for the exact model I am not quite sure yet, although I would want it to be pre '73, so I guess I have a few options The S is very tempting but from what I can see they are rather rare, and I can't see why I wouldn't be just as happy with a T or an E. The difference in performance is honestly not that important to me as what I want from such a car is to feel special and for it to make me 10 years old again, not top end performance. That's what modern cars are for. Besides I'm sure they all pull quite nicely considering their weight.

It is not in the near future that I can afford one though... but in the mean time I look forward to picking up some good info and admire the variety of stunning german metal that can be seen on this forum.
