DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

A handful of dedicated DDKers sloped off to Castle Combe today for a well organised track day with another 50 or so cars; an eclectic mix, Evo nutters to 928's with plenty inbetween. Not much early Porsche but plenty to enjoy, especially a few orange cars

Everything was great, except the wintery showers and chilling winds gusting across the old airfield circuit. Not much else to say so here are some pit lane pics to give a taste of mostly.... orange.

Nick's orange beast goes & sounds as well as it looks. I rode shotgun for a few laps and it's driven pretty well too

Mel's Cup Car was immaculate as ever and even in those wet sessions on slicks had "plenty of grip"... apparently.

Another immaculate 964 with Oldtimer John, that's a cool track day 911.

The sharp-eyed will have noticed glimpses of Caterham.... and there were a few, incl mine being swiftly pedalled here by Mitch Jnr.

In the category of "other/interesting" there was an Atom with it's occupants in full cold weather bike gear. And an Aston Martin Virage Vantage. I checked the relative weights... Atom 600 kg versus Vantage 2200 kg!!



A few race prepped (and quick) bespoilered MG's with 4600 cc V8's under the hood.



A couple of 924 Racecars and Ferrari 328, sadly a GTS but looked nice anyway.

I hope you enjoyed the day. I thought of you often as I looked through the window to watch the down pours and hail storms; hopefully it wasn't anywhere near as bad at Castle Combe.

Working close by I popped along to say hello and see mr Moss's delicious new toy….



..which looked pretty damned quick out on the circuit, unfortunately missed the shot of it spitting flames down the track!…

…the Early911 rocket wasn't the only orange 3.0 that had come out to play…this car looked gorgeous (for an IB), with a freshly rebuilt engine by Redtek I believe…

Looked like a great day out, hopefully next year I'll have something to take along to join in the fun.

Was that the day organised by the CSMA? I think coombe has a "retro day" later in the year too.

Aw thanks But I that's not really true, I'm a happy snapper... that boy Ferry Man is a class act. I can write everything I know about photography on the back of a stamp. And I only post the ones that come out OK... as this shows

Haha... I do look a bit worried! But he sure knows how to drive 'em as well as build 'em.

No, a privately organised day. I always like these days, very relaxed with good people and high driving standards.

I know it's been talked about before but made me think again about a DDK Track Day. It does need a big commitment and enough people (50 ish?) to cover the costs, but possible with enough support. And generally with cars that come under 100 db, never easy in an early Porsche
