Very (very) early run out to the Black Mountains, before the crowds descend….an hour or two to play….breakfast stop and natter…then head back home for a lunch time pint.
Anyone interested?

Very good idea to set a date. I'm possibly away away then... but if that changes, yes please!

Me too ...... I have been thinking of doing a weekend in Wales and this seems the perfect excuse.

Would be good to have you there Nigel, are you back the following weekend?
The extra week might make it a bit safer for me if I want to drive something pre-1996!
I'm totally open…..a date that gets as many cars together as possible is favourite!
Cheers,

Interested depending on what date.

Lots of great roads there, key is to get on them before they get busy. Depends which area you want to play in and how much time you have. Some suggestions.
To get there from the East, try the B4521 Ross-on-Wye to Abergavenny and on to the B4558 to Brecon. From Brecon you can head south on the A4059 and A4061 or west to Sennybridge and pick up a great loop that is A4067 - A4068 - A4069 - A40 back to Sennybridge.
There are also good routes in from Cardiff / Bridgend and Chepstow depending on where you are coming from.
There are some even better roads if you go north of the Black Mountains around Tregaron. And then there is always Snowdonia ........
I am planning to be there all weekend

Some good suggestions there - where's best to meet up initially? Brecon / Abergavenny?

I've just come back from a couple of days driving in Wales (amazing roads, weather, food .... shame about the company .....). Brecon or Llandovery probably make most sense. The A40 connecting them runs all the way along the north side of the Black Mountains and is a nice flowing road.
You then MUST take the A4069 south from Llandovery down to Llangadog and on to Brynaman. Then either take the A4068 / A4067 back to Sennybridge and on to the A40 or if you have time head for Hirwaun and take the A4061 south of Treorchy to Nant-y-moel. From here you can get back to the A40 by going North on A4061 / A4059 / A470.
If you have a little more time, take the B4558 connecting Brecon and Abergavenny, rather than the A40, and then the B4521 on to Ross on Wye.
