Roger Bray, Transend or Stoddart in the US... I got my last oil change bits and bobs from Halfords though (really!) and rinsed the oil filter thru with petrol - good as new!

Hi chaps,

on older car go for 10W-40, 15W-40 or 20W-50.

(this means- acts as a 10W oil when cold (thinner), and 40 at high temperature)

higher the number, the 'thicker' the oil.

Don't use 0W-30 (too thin for the clearances in an older car)

Don't use synthetic, unless your engine has been recently rebuilt with new seals, as it has powerful detergents that clean the engine, but will leak past old oil seals.

Hope that helps

Robster speaks the truth, any good quality dinosaur based oil, Castrol, Valvoline, Mobil etc.

Synthetics are in my experience, a nightmare, I'll stick with 10-40w turbo deisel Castrol GTX.
