New Steel Wheels

My speedster is currently running chrome sprintstar wheels with spinners, and 165/80 tyres.

I had to part with the wide-5 steel wheels that I used to run on my speedster when I sold our split-screen camper van. They'd found there way onto that to allow proper rated tyres to fit at the rear as the 356 replica wheels the camper was on when I bought it had insufficient offset to allow this. (They were wide-5 mangels 5.5" rims with the usual offset of 15; the wheels i'd had on my speedster had a special-order (from CSP at the time) offset of 25, giving a valuable 10mm additional clearance at the rims. I had planned to put widened original 15" bus wheels on the van but the company I entrusted widening too had them for more than a year without managing the task.... and the bus was sold in the meantime...

So I'm bringing back as hand carry from the states some 45 offset wide-5 4.5x15 rims from Beck. I'm hoping that with my existing 165/80 tyres they'll give me that nice tucked in look.
Thinking of having them refinished in ivory, with polished drum skinz beneath :-)
Should contrast the black bodywork nicely.

I'll post some before and after photos when done.

I know a good Powder coater that gets into all the nucks & granies of the wide five's.

Bloody hell, how big is your bag  your putting them in as hand luggage???

I should have said checked luggage (doh!) but I've got them home safe and sound. They didn't even raise an eyebrow at check-in though of course TSA unpacked them and repacked them (for once, they repacked them as they found them rather than their usual poor effort)

I'm going to try a wheel refinisher in Basingstoke who fixed one of my C30 wheels for me when I ran it down a kerb a while ago. They have dealt with wide-5 steels before and had people bringing wheels to them from a reasonable distance away.

Apologies for late reply, been travelling, cheers for the coater tip.

I am in Sutton Coldfield, how about you?

Spyder is having some surgery at the moment, new screen, converting to CSP Wide 5s and some silencers before I get an ASBO. Just the weather for it, 10" of snow!
