Someone with the same interests as me posted photos of AFN on another forum. I like old photo's of AFN andn this one is no exception. My brother Peter who worked there gave me the names of most of the people in the photo so Right to Left:

Ian Denham ..Gearboxes
Lawrence Hardwick... parts
WH Aldington... Director
Dickie Stoop ... famous amateur racing driver collecting his new 904
George Sneath ...Engines
Peter Morgan
John Hardwick
unkown
I might have spelt Peter Morgan name wrong my brother said it quickly.

Great photos, nice to see a factory color other than silver on the 904 for a change. What's the story with the registration plate, is it a dealer related plate?

Isn't that a factory export delivery plate? I recall they were oval, German and white background with a Z as the first letter on the bottom line.

I think that's the case - once Dickie had taken delivery it was registered with one of his personalised plates:

The first pic is in the Denis Jenkinson AFN book from the late 1980s.

Dennis - looks like a BMW 503 ...

Incidentally, last I heard of Dickie Stoop's old 904 it was in Australia.

Love the 904 in that dark colour. BTW what colour is it?

What it must have been like driving around in 1964 in a 904

it was good in the early 70's in a 904, even though I was a passenger.

Yeah that right Mike, your old Boss had a 904 that he was climbing right?

Those cars look stunning now, in the 70's they must have looked like spaceships!

I found a couple of photos of Dickie Stoops 904 today and the text makes for some interesting reading. Don't think DSJ would mind.
