DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

A big hello to everyone on DDK. Been a lurker on here for a long time and thought it was about time I did the right thing and joined.
A few of you on here will already know me. I've been into 911's for over 20 years and been racing them on and off for more than 19 years. (more off if the truth be known as I still have not won the lottery). First 911 I ever bought was a 1988 3.2 Carrera. First race car I ever bought was a 3.2 Carrera Super Sport. Well I've owned quite a few 911's over the years. Always air cooled apart from a brief foray with a 944 turbo silver rose many years ago.
When I sold my last 911 I thought really long and hard as to exactly what I wanted from my next 911. So life has brought me full circle and I own a 1989 3.2 Carrera Super Sport that has been built into a road legal race car. The build has taken a quite while and is pretty much 100% complete. Once my new brake calipers have been fitted that should hopefully be the last piece of the expensive jigsaw puzzle. Then we need to do some testing to make sure everything works. Some track days for fun and get a very long awaited adrenalin fix. Then some racing which is long overdue.
In fact so overdue that my missus has threatened to have the car disassembled and rebuilt in our lounge if I don't go and use it as was intended. My other hope is that 2013 will bring some seat time in a '65' 2 litre S race car. Although I have been threatened with it many a time, it has yet to come to fruition. There is also something else possibly on the go but I'll save that for another time.

I thought I ought to add that I am not a stranger to our beloved pre impact bumper 911's. A very good mate who got me into the whole 911 thing many years ago owned a 2.7RS replica. Based upon a 73 2.4E Coupe. White with Blue. I bought it some ten years ago and ran it for about three years. Great car.
I remember one particular journey with the missus in the RS on a very nice and familiar stretch of B road. I was dropping the RS back to the garage and picking up my 964 3.6 turbo. All the way there she kept telling me to slow down. On the way back at exactly the same speed not a murmur from her. Amazing the difference in the perception of speed.

can you tell me what colour that is on the inside of your car? i need a post-cage paint job and really like that vs. the normal black or white..

Neil, no I'm not going to build a '65' car. But I have a few friends that already own race prepped '65' cars and in fact one is a '64' car.

Ben. The grey paint is RAL 7015.
The SSE is basalt black metallic and Carrera GT Silver.
The interior was going to be painted silver but Loz a very close mate that was heavily involved in the build decided otherwise. (Loz has owned a 2.2S Coupe for over 30 years). He wanted the car painted inside as per the original factory cars. In fact the underside of the car is in the same grey.
