Winter storage

Post by Drmark »

I don't have a proper garage so have bought a Carcoon Veloce - and very impressed. I went for the small - it's a tight fit lengthwise but OK, and there is plenty of room to get in and out of the car. None of the fuss associated with a normal frameless Carcoon - just unzip and drive in and out, takes seconds.

Looks good, thinking about getting one myself when the car's done.

Would you recommend the medium version over the small or are you happy with the fit?

Thanks

Along the same route, I have the outdoor version of the Carcoon in medium as advised by Carcoon Sales and there is tons of room inside front to back. The bubble touches the car nowhere even when jossled by winds.
The outdoor version is made from very different materials but i imagine the pattern sizes are the same.

I would go for medium if you have the space - small is tight lengthwise, but it will work if you can't get a medium in your garage. Nothing touches front or back when inflated, but does when it is collapsed.

From what I can see on Carcoon's website, they're all the same length at 230cm (except for the extra small at 200cm) and its just the width that varies so I guess the small one would do the trick.

Not cheap, but looks ideal for winter storage inside the garage - will have to look at one of these myself.

Cheers, Ross.

Ignore the above, I'm being dense, the width is constant at 230cm and its the length that varies! (clearly I need more coffee)

Drmark, do you have the 'small' or the 'extra small' one? After looking at the specs on their website, I'm confused by you saying that you have the small one, but that it's a tight fit lengthwise given that the larger ones are the same length as the small one and only vary in width.

I'm half tempted to have a go at knocking one together out of some poles, polythene and gorilla tape...

I'll let you know how that goes...given my inability to comprehend measurements (see above) it might be some time coming ;)

Just over £500 for the medium one.

Off at a slight tangent, has anyone had any experience of one of these:-

http://www.ruby-dry-dehumidifiers.co.uk/

A friend recommended them and initially I thought no way, but reading the info, perhaps it would do the trick in my garage which is large, dry and insulated, but isn't heated and doesn't have much air-flow as it's quite well sealed up.

I run a Ruby dry in my garage constantly throughout the damp months. (June to April :) ) Had it a couple of years now and am impressed. If you do a "Ruby"search, I feel sure other are using them.

Regards, Mike.

Thanks Mike, will have to look into that. Can I ask roughly what size your garage is?
