Greetings all, I'm new to the Porsche world and loving it. About a year ago I purchased a 1966 912 with a Chevy Corvair engine. I've always wanted a Porsche this body style and my wife agreed I "needed" it. I am a disabled veteran and don't work any more, except for the time I put in on it. I love Porsches and Corvairs so this is the best of both worlds....... for now! After renewing the body plans are to build the engine to go in it, then find a new home for the Corvair engine in my Bradley GT. A proper place for it. The drivers floor pan and rear parcel shelf is rotted away so it's a Flintstone mobile at the moment. It has a "wide body kit" as I was told when I purchased it off of Ebay. The wide body kit consists of cutting the tin, extending it outwards and a lot of Bondo. Anyways restoration is out the window so a complete custom is on it's way. Don't shoot me but I'm thinking power windows, shaving the door handles, and other mods. At the moment I have it completely disassembled and stripped down to bare metal. I have pics from before the tear down on my broke down laptop so I'll post pics of it when I can. Well, just wanted to introduce myself and give a quick lowdown on my project car thanks for listening and I hope to use a lot of the knowledge on here.

Welcome to DDK Bryan - sounds like an interesting project !
yes, please post some pictures when you can - I don't remember seeing a 911 or 912 with a Corvair engine before.

Interesting Bryan to see how you get on. Bradley GT for the Corvair engine. I don't know what the Bradley looks like the Corvair engine has always interested me because of its configuration.
Best of luck and of course welcome here.
Roy

Thanks for the welcome guys, I had one of my laptops crash and my photos were on it. I'm working on trying to rescue them. I would take pics but it is stripped ( plus my garage looks like crap). I will post some when I get them from the hard drive.

I had to look up Corvair engines in Wiki..... interesting!
A flat 6, air cooled, 2 litre's and up and even turbo's. apparently a popular conversion in VW's and dune buggies in the 60's. Lighter than a 911 engine too.
All sounds like a good package for a 912..... quite tuneable too.

Steve McQueen's dune buggy in the Thomas Crown Affair had a Corvair engine ...
