Hi everyone,

I'm new on this forum, so bear with the occasional random question!

I've recently bought a 1969 911T She's currently in California, I'll be picking her up in little over two weeks, & driving to New York via Michigan.

The only fixed date I have is to be in New York by November 23rd to catch my flight home.... Otherwise, no fixed agenda, except to do the epic drive.

The suspension is currently being reassembled after a major upgrade, the engine will be taken care of here in the UK.

I'm looking forward to some track days.....

Now that is the way to collect your car! Nothing like a big US road trip... I'm very envious

Thank you...... It's been a while since I've had anything air cooled, & from the outset, this has been someone of a baptism of fire!,

I'll certainly be running a thread on the road trip, especially if I can get the picture upload to work

Looking forward to hearing about the road trip and there's a few of us fairly close by for when you fancy a run out in the UK.

You may want to consider snow tyres for that trip. You have mountains to cross and the northern states. Michigan has already seen snow, and I have had to drive through some pretty nasty stuff in Ontario in the past few weeks. I have had to melt ice off the windshield with hot water a few times recently; the ice scraper was useless. An early winter is coming I believe.
A few years ago I had my roof done on Dec 10, and the roofers stripped down to T-shirts since it was such a warm day, but that is an exception.
You may also want to join the Early 911S Registry, and be eligible for a contact list along your route should you need assistance.

My brother lives in Michigan, so it's a 'nice to do' if the weather isn't too bad....

I'm a member of the 911s registry, & will certainly be making use of its members list!

I'm taking the more southern route, avoiding Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa; & heading more towards New Mexico, Oklahoma & Missouri.... Then I'll see how the weather holds up.

Jude, a few years ago I drove from Albuquerque NM to Chicago... and back again, in less than a week! It'll be an incredible drive through the breadbasket of America. If you have time to stay off the Highway and on the smaller roads, you can see so much more (sorry if stating the obvious or you've already been there..)

The only downside is that there isn't much in the way of twisty stuff

Sounds like an fantastic adventure? I guess you are mechancially minded because it's quite leap of faith to pick up a car and drive it for 3000 miles?

A leap of faith... Posssibly. She's had a major service & suspension upgrade which a vey reputable Porsche specialist in California; & as for being mechanically minded..... I've owned 3 Beetles, a Type 2 Split & a Karmann Ghia that have all had my fair hand working on them at some stage.

I'll also take a tool kit & a Haynes manual

Thanks Mitch... I'll be getting the twisty stuff out of my system in California before I leave... & I'm definitely going to be heading along R66 where possible...
