The 'Maverick' Classic Porsche Forum and Classic Porsche Club for Porsche 356, Aircooled Porsche 911, Porsche 912, Porsche 914 & Porsche Replicas. 'We join for the cars but stay for the people'
I'm Magnus, a Swedish bloke living in Switzerland. I've been surfing DDK for quite a while but bought my first Porsche last Sunday, a 911T from -71. Will collect it on Friday
I plan to use it for a while to find out what needs to be prioritized during the winter months, there's plenty to choose from. If I could just find myself a garage now instead of browsing around for parts...
“A REMINDER. I would be grateful if those members who have borrowed bits from me in emergencies (e.g starter motor, oil cooler, etc) would return them and/or contact me”. – Chris Turner RIP
Again, thanks for the welcome. Things didn't turn out as planned so will pick up the car this Friday instead... At least the delay have allowed me to do some proper thinking, like in what order to get started. I'll open a separate thread as there will undoubtly be plenty of questions from my side but it goes something like:
1. Gearlinkage overhaul. It was very "sloppy" during the test drive but I can't claim that I know how it should be, maybe its character...
2. Try to sort the worst oil leaks, not sure where to start yet so need to look into that as soon as I get the car.
3. Get some chrome rimmed indicators, I know it's cosmetics but I'm not keen on the current black ones.
4. Get some new period correct carpets and hope that there's not too many nasty surprices lurking under the current ones, wishful thinking...
5. Getting a new front S bumper, probably in GPR. The one fitted has some horrid projector foglights.
5. Maybe refurbish the wheels, again cosmetics but I do like brushed petals.
6. Try to source some period correct sport seats as the current ones are out of a later 911.
