Greetings
Long time lurker / pistonheads long termer / impact bumpers lurker!
I am in my mid thirties (ok, mid to late) and am due to do what may be my last trackday in my Caterham this Monday (Castle Combe if anyone from here is going!).
I have been a 911 fan since short trouser days, and have been in turmoil over what 911 I would put my hard earned into! I am not the greatest driver in the world, but the feeling of stringing together a lap / run down the B roads in a mechanical car is second to none! Probably a bit cliched, but the early 911 is where my heart has always been - purists would cry at my idea of my perfect 911, but it would probably be a somewhat backdated pre-89 G50 equipped car. I would then probably ruin it (over time) with a 3.6 from a 993, some modern suspension & brakes, and some form of tartan trimmed buckets and a half cage!
I am short in the arm and long in the pocket at present, so reality check would see my in a pre-89 as is for some time, and changes done over a period. I do have a hankering for a custome 964, or a 996 GT3 as well, but an early car is where I really want to be!!
I have a question for the long of beard though - are there any factory standard options on a Supersport other than the obvious turbo body, and are the arch / body dimensions such that they would be a cheaper option for a wide arched backdate look (as opposed to trying to retrofit steel arches and full paint at a later date)?
There don't seem to be too many SSE's out there, there is one up for £20k with Portiacraft at present though.
Thanks in advance,
Gray
