My car went in for a mot on saturday sailed through except for my rear tail lights which are red, they are ment to be orange which i wasn't aware of, it's had six mot on this country before and passed with no problem at all, i had to twist the guy,s a bit but he passed it in the end thank god.
The question is are they ment to be red or orange??

Front & rear indicator lenses are meant to be amber.
All-red rear lenses are US spec.

Yeap they should be amber...
The other thing US cars can fail on is when people put UK spec front lenses on US cars which do not have the side light in the same location. Thus when indicating white light will also shine through the clear section of the lens. Its an easy fit but just something else to bear in mind if your local MOT guy is being a bit tight.

Easy fix (without going to the expense of new euro spec lenses) is to rewire your reverse light (white) with your indicators and put yellow bulbs in. There is no legal requirement for a reverse light (so it can be red). Worked for me.
