Hi Everyone, this is a very interesting board and I found this through early911sregistry.org. I live in the USA just outside the city of Chicago (bang bang your dead). Bought my first Porsche way back in 1980 when I graduated college, it was a 1973 914 2.0 and it only lasted for 14 months as I smashed it up in the cold winter of Chicago sliding on some ice! Could not afford a second car for winter driving at the time. Did not buy another one until 1999 also a 2.0 914 bought it in LA and drove it back to Chicago, sold that in 2001 when I bought a 1973 911T Targa. I since have added a 1971 911T Targa in Bahia Red, a 1974 914 2.0 in Alaska Blue Metallic (very rare color) and a 1991 911 Targa in all black. I recently listed my '71 for sale on this board but have decided to keep it since I have found some more storage space. Hope to participate a little more going forward as I will be selling off some bits and aquiring some for my 914. Besides collecting and driving Porsche's I also am an accomplished golfer (2 Hdcp.) and will traveling to Scotland in late May to play St. Andrews, Carnousti, North Berwick and Gullane. Thank you for providing this website!! OOPS! forgot to give my name Mike (Mick) Fitton. Family is originally from Ireland a town called Ovens outside Cork City.

Well Ian I used to be a +2. When I am driving my Porsches I think about golfing and when I am golfing I think about driving my Porsches, the wife fits in there somewhere!

Be sure to bring a range of clothing options. Last week Gullane was warm shorts 'n' t-shirt weather. Today, it's snowing with a howling wind.

Hi Mike

Welcome to DDK.

I enquired about your very nice targa in Bahia.

If you fancy a game at Turnberry I can probably get you on. The other side of the country though. I live right by the course.
Carnoustie is possibly the best links in Scotland. If the weather is kind (and May is usually the best month) you will love it! Watch out for the spectacles! The other courses are great too but have you tried to get on Muirfield? Difficult I know but not to be missed if you can.

Have a great trip!

Regards
Mike

Hi Mike Thanks for the offer on Turnberry maybe next trip, this one is pretty well planned out with a group of 12. This is my 3rd trip to Scotland and I have played Muirfield before (not impressed). I have played Carnoustie, St. Andrews (Old Course), Narin, Inverness, Gullane (both), North Berwick. We are staying in St. Andrews (Rusacks) and North Berwick (Marine Hotel) love their snooker tables and of course the 19th hole. Hope to also see some porsches on the trip. If I see something over here you may be interested in I will post it. Thanks!

Have you considered Archerfield? I'm no golfer but I've heard it's good.
