Today is finally here:

My baby has gone off to be given a whole heap of TLC:



Job one will be strip out followed by assessment of all metalwork needs related to the body. We have already identified a range of tasks but won't know the full extent for a few days. Therefore, I won't make any claims at this point as to the condition of the car as I may end up looking a bit daft.

Once we have assessed all the requirements, the rectification will be carried out following by a full repaint.

In parallel with the bodywork being done, the engine tinwork is being refurbed and the wheels refinished back to the correct spec.

The pictures will start to flow in about a week I guess.

I guess this is the time when I brace myself for what may be found

my RSR homage is there at the moment having a full cage put in and various other mods (single battery, lexan windows, elec cut out etc) in prep for trackdays, sprints and hillclimb plans. hopefully will be finished next week. They look after a silver 2.4S for a friend of mine. good guys

Thats good to know - always good to hear that other people have trusted their pride and joy in the same place.

So I went for my first visit to Tuthills today since dropping off the car. Since that time they have stripped the paint and generally the car and reported back what that exposed. Some good and some not so good:

The car had rot in the wing support plates (No big surprise)
Rot in one door shut (No big surprise)
One kidney bowl had been damaged at some point
Inner and outer sills rotting
One of the legs onto which the door mounts needs repairing

The overall chassis is good, floor all sound, one door needs reskinning which I knew, one wing replacing which I knew, batttery box needs re-work and other usual bits.

Heres the pics I took, although Tuthills are keeping a photographic record of the entire job for me. they are working from the back to the front at present, so the wing supports and battery box ect have not been started yet. Difficult to get your head round how a car can look like this when it did not look to bad to start with, but I only want to be doing this once so its we get at the rot now:

I went up to Tuthills again yesterday for a check on progress. No pics this time but the door shuts are complete, new inner and outer sills fitted and dressed leaving the luggage compartment and wing closing plates to be sorted out.

The engine tinware is off being powder coated/ plated ect and the wheels being refurbed.

Seems to be going ok albeit a bit slower than they would have liked.

When I go back in about 10 days I will take some more pics as it should be getting very close to being ready for paint.
