Darren, loved this thread. Great skills all round and cool finished product.
I have to ask though - how much is something like this finished actually worth?
And how much do you spend in getting it to this standard?
All through it I have thought this must cost way more to do than it's worth.....but I only have vintage Porsche experience and if you are not doing it yourself we all know how big those bills can get!!

Thank you guys, this one has certainly been done for love rather than money however, for me, there's nothing more enjoyable than a 2CV restoration and these can kinda be justified.964RS wrote:Darren, loved this thread. Great skills all round and cool finished product.

The biggest pleasure has not only been part of bringing the van back to life but passing it on to a truly appreciative new home
Great fun….

Are we going to see a new business, Swindon Car & Van Restorations ?
You have certainly got the skills and passion.
I don't need one, I can't justify one but I want one !!! an 'outlaw' version please..

Re: OT Restoration although with some Porsche content...
How about a 'rat' version?
I'm not a lover of fake patina although do plan to try and produce a restored but aged version, rusty looking panels with faded paint and worn out sign writing
Might look cool if we can get it just right - will start working on an outlaw spec
Cheers,

Looks fabulous Darren !
Your thread has rekindled my thoughts about getting another 2CV (after a gap of 40 years) ... who'd have thought that a bunch of 'maverick' Porsche owners would be lusting after these 'basic' (a big part of their appeal) vehicles in 2012 ...

Go for it!
I expect yours would become the most accurate and best 2CV out there

What a great little van!
I love the shots of the other chap's storage barns too - he's got it bad, but a kind of obsession that I can't help to admire.

Smashing job done, looks great.
The roof rack is interesting in as much as the roll these cars have, one boggles at the thought of any real weight on the roof!
Refreshing restoration, there were some great examples at the NEC Classic Car Show, lots of interest in them.

Very, very cool
We used to have Citroens as a family, Ami 6 then 8 then a host of GS's, finally my mother got a 2CV for herself, which my brother and I had a lot of fun ragging around in, including a memorable trip on the M62 when the unsecured sunroof suddenly ripped back open over our heads....
Great colour, kind of liked the darker grey, but this does really suit it..
Look forward to the next installments...
