The 1969 model year represented the biggest change for the 911 since its introduction in 1964.
The most notable change from the 1968 model year was an extended wheel base, providing precious extra inches in the cabin and more easily exploitable handling.
Porsche offered three 911 models for the year - a range that would continue through to 1973 - the base model 911T, mid-range 911E and top-of-the-range 911S.
Whilst the engines in the new model kept the same 2.0 litre capacity as the early cars, significant changes were introduced including a new crankcase die-cast from magnesium and the E and S models were the first 911s to feature the now legendary Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection set up that provided the instant throttle response and soaring power that made that generation of 911 famous.

An exceptional 1969 911 E.
It was delivered new by Porsche Cars Pacific Inc, the dealer in San Francisco, California, in April 1969 and remained in the same family ownership until 2010, when it was sold and brought to the UK.
The car has covered just under 26,000 miles from new and is in correspondingly exceptional condition throughout.
The interior is all original and beautiful, bar a modern stereo unit carefully fitted beneath the dashboard. The body appears to be all original undisturbed panels too. The car has had areas of paintwork in its life but never a full repaint.
It remains on original (and perfect) 14" Fuchs wheels and beneath them still has its original calipers.
The underside of the car is as fresh as the top.
It is mechanically excellent and drives with a delicacy and tightness that is seldom seen in these cars, even on fully restored examples. Before coming to the UK it had a comprehensive mechanical service at Hi-Tec Automotive in San Rafael.
It is supplied with a comprehensive service history back to the original bill of sale, the original tools, books, spare wheel and jack.
This is a truly remarkable car, very few can be so original and it would be impossible to recreate with a restoration at any price. To drive it is to understand how a brand new 911 would have felt in 1969. It really is that good.
The car is now UK registered with all EU duties paid and is available with RHD European spec H4 headlights or the US sugar scoops.
