After meeting one of your really helpful members Dan,at a trackday at Goodwood last saturday who pointed me in the direction of this site, I am all signed up and looking forward to gaining some more useful advice. In case your reading Dan,I just wanted to thank you again and also to say how wonderful your RSR evo car was turned out..its a credit to the high level of workmanship that has gone into it..also loved the personal touches.

I have a 69 Porsche 911 which has evolved into RSR form (you can see pictures posted in the general chat area on the Goodwood track day post. Its the 'shabby sheek' white car pictured next to a later GTS..nice comment posted about same DNA!

I purchased the car as a joint venture with my friend Graham. Both avid petrol heads,are intention was to create a car that we could use for some historic events and the odd trackday.
The car was aquired with no engine and seemed ideal as I already had a donor engine from an early 911SC that I had languishing away in a garage for 8 years. Plan A was to install the engine merely to see if we enjoyed how the car drove,suspension,brakes,steering ride comfort etc. If the results were positive..which they are,dispite having liturally thrown the engine in days before putting it out on track...as you do! Plan B is to build an RSR spec engine..twin plug 3.0,high butterfly set up etc.
If there is anyone out there that can suggest a competent RSR engine builder..or anyone that may have such a thing lying around in a skip of unwanted rubbish they need clearing..I would love to hear from you!

Your car looked great in Dan's shots.
Goodwood is Goodfun in an early 911.

I do know a competent RSR engine builder but I won't tell you his name because he might be even slower getting the job done on my engine if you jump the queue...

Thanks Paul..no intentions of jumping the queue,I have all the time in the world and several other cars/bikes..young children to keep me busy in the meantime!

I believe Mike Bainbridge may have had some dealings with my car already according to the previous owner,I was hoping to find someone a bit closer to home SW London/Surrey Border..any suggestions?

Firstly my apologies for the delayed response,in truth I really didn't know what to say.. except OMG!
I am overwhelmed with the detail and passion you have lavished upon your 911.It was a fascinating read which I am grateful to you for sharing. I concur with another readers comments on the suggestion of you writing the cars autobiograpghy..no pun intended! I doubt you will recoup the investment in the car,but I would certainly be up for a copy..infact I can picture a first edition up on the third shelf of the anorak section at Foyles!
I know you've heard it all before..but well done Mike,the car is a credit to you.

I recently had a chat with Neil...great guy, about building me an engine,he's going to run some numbers and come back to me,I will update you if we can agree on a plan.

I'm curious as to how your project came about and why you chose car 107 as the theme,if you get a moment some background info would be of great interest..

Just a little word to the wise about mike. Although he seems ok he's actually an agoraphobic 19 year old who still lives with his mum and hasn't been out of his bedroom in 4 years. He doesn't even own a car - he's just really talented with photoshop. He'd have been kicked off the forum years ago but his social worker says its therapeutic for us to play along with his fantasy
