well managed to sort out all the electrical problems, fitted new rocker covers to stop the leaks, and got the wheel alignment done to original t1 spec.

It improved the steering somewhat as it did feel like the wheels were pointing in different directions, however its very stiff and vague - not nice! I have new track rods etc and a new steering box...should I put a few miles on the clock before I start adjusting things further?

Secondly, first and second are quite hard to engage and second crunches it. When coming down from 3rd, 2nd is hard to locate and need to double clutch to even have any chance of engaging. Still adjusting the lever and will pack a couple more washers on the clutch cable tomorrow - suspecting the box may be mullered tho.

Finally didnt even get to 100 miles on the clock before I rang out of juice at 99.8 - bloody useless fuel sender lol ....I'll be filling up at 1/4 tank in future. Anyone know the capacity of VWT1 tanks?

Certainly attracted a lot of attention. Especially cos I'd rewired the indicator light on the dash from both feeds so when I indicated, all the indicators came on!!! Wondered why everyone was giving me a wide berth!!! Now sorted.

Anyway a step in the right direction at last. Nothing went pop or caught fire. Not sure who was more terrified at first tho - me or my daughter!!!!

And now its been cleaned........

Well in Paul !still need to see some photos , £25 sqwid fills my tank up ,I have the same prop, my fuel sender always reads full ,so have to shine a torch down tank happy driving! you deserve it

I would make sure your torch is an intrinsically safe or you could end up with no eye brows. Never use your phones flash for this.

I use to use the 1 on my phone until I saw a health & safety film at a oil refinary I was working it was filmed on cctv in Brazilian shell plant & a guy shone his mobile phone torch in the top of a tanker ! the vapers on his clothes set him on fire then he fell off the top of the tanker on fire & landed next to the fuel hose with more petrol vapers which also set alight his was a gonner So now I use a wined up one

You could alway make a dipstick for your petrol tank. After youve got used to driving it and put a few miles on the clock you'll know haw many miles you get to a full tank anyway or you could have a play with the float on your sender unit to see if you can get a more accurate reading at nearly empty?

I always carry a spare can of fuel. You only run out of fuel once with the wife and kids. Every journey they ask if we have enough petrol!

Still need to drop the front a bit, fit side trims, do odd jobs, get it running and steering the way i want.

You are joking right, it would look like Tim Westwood had his hands on it and pimped it up.. You would have to go and buy some leopard print trousers with some alligator shoes. l think you may have guessed not my combo.

I'd go burnt red or a nice tan/brown but not grey.

Agree with Thomas - never seen a light grey interior in any car that looked good.

Thought I'd dig this out for you.

My old M&W Speedster (which was a similar yellow to yours) had a dark blue interior, worked well I always thought.

Personally I think a light grey doesn't have enough contrast against the yellow.

I thought it was more of a linen/stone colour with a mid grey carpet - comments noted tho
