Try Ian Peacock on 07889 505959. He's down in Portsmouth i think, does a bit of work on 914s so may have a door.
(I bloody threw away 4 old doors when I moved house the other month - All were rotten).

Nope, by the sound of it he's still alive & capable of procreating ...
Boomy, that really sucks! Have you tried Mike Karavasilli (sp?) or Jim Calvert at Stateside?

Sounds like the time I forgot to fully latch down the bonnet of my 914 . . . and at 60+ it decided to open . . .
. . . . you feel heartbroken and such a knob at the same time. Oh well, least you're not alone.

You're not alone... the catch snapped on mine as i bounced over the rumble strips entering the village, the bonnet folded itself into the roof in an attractive L shape bending both hinges and creasing the scuttle panel and bulkhead... at 20mph!!!
After i'd stopped crying, the insurer's wanted to replace all the bent tin with new but my bodyman convinced them to let him massage the old metal back into shape again as the car is all original. £3k later

and the results were superb thankfully...

thx guyz....the pain has eased somewhat....but recounting the story to so many ppl has done nothing for my pride..

.....ive covered it with TWO car covers and am forgetting about it until the weekend, when I will be taking stock of the damage...here's the spooky bit....10 minutes...LITERALLY....10 minutes before, I had changed the reg at the local DVLA office, and thought '...I hope this isnt bad luck changing the number...'
honestly would you belive it.....
Thanks again,
@MdR ...sorry to be a newbie, but who are the guys you mention ?? Have you got numbers for either of these ppl...
Cheers....Mark

cheers again guys....I txt'ed Iain in Portsmouth...but have heard nothing so guess that is a no-go, but cheers for the offer 912uk

...ive got a few numbers to call now, so thanks for the help.... It doesnt have to be brilliant, so if you DO have something ropey hanging around for a REASONABLE price, please let me know....I have been surfing the US sites and have found several cars breaking with doors for very few $$ ..!
I guess the cost of shipping would be crazy ?? And the time taken would be weeks/months...??

...anyone ever shipped a door/door sized item from the US and can give a me an idea of cost ??
Thanks, Mark

@ abm BIG thx....managed to get in touch with Ian, except he is in Bristol and NOT in Portsmouth....but he DOES have a door

, he has never heard of DDK though ??!
From the Parcel Force website, they say:
"3.1
The size of each Parcel must not exceed 3 metres length and girth (measured around its thickest part) combined and 1.5 metres for the greatest dimension."
I do not have the door dimensions with me, but as an estimate, I would say that (3mtrs combined) is PRETTY CLOSE to the limit for this...??
If this is too big, does anyone have a recomended carrier I could use..??
Thanks again, Mark

It has been known for me to be able to shift odd shaped bits of car from here to there .. .. ..
I can (in theory) get stuff collected from A delivered to B whilst I sit comfortably at C with a glass or two of D. The invoice *should* then get lost in the system here at work. If the invoice gets audited then you have to pay - if not Hurrah!
PM, email or give me a call if you're interested
