Another expensive T

Our friend at Rove Cars has taken a full page ad in June's C&SC to advertise his £70,000 T (still cheap compared to Sam's

These are at the very unusual end of the market so I can understand the prices being asked.

I love Targas !
There, I`ve said it.
Don`t get me wrong, there`s something very beautiful about the haunches of an early coupe, that transition between roof and rear wheel arch... sublime. A similar thing happens with the series 1 E type and the reason you must never buy a roadster, But....
There`s just something about Targas that appeals, especially the one featured above... despite those damn Yankee parking sensors. Targas look like fun, they look jollly and carefree.... wind in your hair, babe magnets. Most excellent.
And if we borrow Mr Ferrymans pricelist for a moment ( thanks Paul) we see that Targas commanded a premium RRP... On a 1972 2.4S the targa cost £400 more than the coupe and that`s when you could buy an E type for £400. (nearly
)
So what`s all this nonsense about Targas being the poor relation, Why do people get sniffy and why don`t they demand a premium now ?
Targas ?? What`s not to love ???

Not quite the same, but I love the look of my black 930 targa, it looks so mean and so......black! I can understand that the wibbly-wobbliness with the targa panel in is a bit irritating. But get that targa panel off and it's well worth the premium
