Nice spot 8) Unless there's more than one perfect RS in Jade with Brown leather.... that's the car that was at Hedingham last year, owned and driven over by a guy who works for Porsche. Somebody with more knowledge than me will remember who.... a lovely car and I think it also won car of the show or similar??

Re the post title.... from my experience, I think the OPC's (Swindon/Bristol/Cardiff) run by the Dick Lovett Group do an excellent job with early cars. But that's because it's in their DNA through Peter Lovett, a true enthusiast. I'd like to think there are others around the country too?

I simply meant few of them ever advertise anything for sale thats older than a 997 these days and I don't take the 'we can only sell with approved warranty' excuse as acceptable.

I think I'm in love.....now should I sell everything?!

Porsche Centre Hatfield often has old cars on display.
At the moment Simon Bowrey 914-6GT is on display, which also was on display at Hedingham; before that Fred Hampton's 356.
Last time I was passing a Carrera GT was also on display.

Are they on 'display' though or for sale?

In other countries they do seem to embrace selling more old cars...would be good if they did that here to imho

I recently had my 993RS serviced at Guildford OPC.
My experience was excellent. They relished working on the car, they assigned a top technician to work on it (an older, experienced guy I guess) and everyone at the showroom seemed genuinely delighted to see a rare piece of Porsche heritage. At the time there was also a superb 993 Turbo being worked on. I do know they also look after some '73 RS's and even 356's.
So, get the right OPC and you'll be pleasantly surprised. :)
Oh and my courtesy car (free, for a couple of days use) was a brand new 911. 8)

I get exactly the same treatment at PC Bournemouth. I can't fault their work, their enthusiasm for older Porsches or their approachability. I honestly believe that I get treated no differently to somebody buying a £150,000 911 - except that they talk to me like an enthusiast rather than a "punter".

However, back on thread - they display but don't sell older cars, understandable really as they have their work cut out supplying new and late used cars.

.. And if you talk to the service manager nicely, you can negotiate a better hourly rate for an old car !

Indeed you can! When I turned up on a Saturday morning at Exeter OPC with no oil pressure (just prior to a 250 drive home) they went out of their way to look after the car, sent a technician off down the road to borrow a oil pressure gauge from the Mazda garage, gave me several cups of coffee, checked it all out (it was just the sender) and charged me....

Nothing :)

I apologised for the oil stains on the floor and left!

...and this was before I'd really put any time and money into my car, so it was four different shades of silver, no carpet, wrecked seats and generally very sorry for itself.
