If anyone is interested, there is a 997 launch party at Porsche Centre Cambridge (Harston) tonight - from about 8.00pm onwards.
Will be there in the '14, leaving oil stains on their nice forecourt

and on the look out for item that can be procured for DDK - banners, signs, Porsche Cayenne Club support vehicle, etc.

Frase,
Did Pongo make it all the way up there, or did you chicken out and take the Renault Megane Champs Elysee?

Just goes to show that the new 997 is a pale imitation on the original (Steve Wright's 70S)

was it a good event? Did the OPC valet the cars?
Only asking the question because Newcastle were a little vague wether my car will be valeted because i'm arriving 'late' at 5pm

The OPC Cambridge event was okay. they made us all park round the back though so didn't see many other members cars - too dark. We had a nice 72 911T in a cool '70's orange on display - no photos (forgot my camera - doh!).
Had a good look around the workshop/sprayshop (no goodies available though, all locked away

!!).

The would have valeted the cars if we had turned up earlier than 5.30pm. An excellent event with superb food, loads of champagbe and lots of pretty girls serving. I have asked Porsche for a copy of the video that they show before the launch itself. Its a collage of early competition cars

I went to the one at Cambridge (on Tuesday night). . . the early 911 was Gulf Orange, the paint work near perfect . . . the owner reckoned he hardly uses it . . . shame.
I liked the 997, but would still prefer a 993.
