Hello,
I have just purchased a 1980s Apal Speedster with 1700cc, twin carby engine. It's LHD and I'm currently considering conversion to RHD. I have purchased all the parts for the conversion but am hesitating to put the dash under the knife.

welcome to DDK.
i wouldn't bother conerting it to RHD they are such little cars and with the roof down you have such good visability, leave it LHD and enjoy.

Hey Phil! I'm an ex-pat DDker living in Perth, WA right now.

I've got a 911R inspired hot rod with a 3.2 engine on PMO's currently languishing in a garage in the UK but soon to be shipped to WA (well in the new year)

Be good to see the car and catch up, I've seen one pootling around the streets as well as some early 911's so there's some others down here who share the passion.

PM me you contact details....

Viv

Is it mandatory to only have RHD cars in Oz?
I think I've read that somewhere - or am I dreaming it up?

RHD a requirement for rego in Western Australia ? (No)

Hi Mick,
The Apal is currently registered in LHD form so no, it's not a requirement for cars to be RHD for rego here.
I prefer the ability to see ahead to overtake safely and that is the main reason I'm converting the car.
