I quite fancy this car. It lives about 3 miles from me, so I popped over to see it today. Trouble is it's quite a hard car to value and buy.

It's basically unused for its 21 years. It has only had 4 services in that time 4 to 6 years apart. The current owner has done 1250 miles in the last 5 years and had the most recent service at Camtune 2 years ago.

It looks to be a proper original car (I'd get that checked of course). It has a few marks on the paintwork, nothing to speak of though.

It has been for sale for a while, the owner will take offers, but I suspect not silly ones as it'd be sold by now.

So obviously as a targa with poor service history (at least based on time), it's not as attractive as it might be.

If I owned it, I'd probably do about 3k miles per year in it, say 10k in the next 3 years.

Anyone got any thoughts on a price that's right? It's got to be low enough to allow re-commissioning money and so that I wouldn't have to take a bath come sale time in say 3 years.

I think its not far off price wise. Though something so low miles could be problematic with lack use.

I think you could be more sensible with your money buying something that has had more use.

I'm pretty sure Charlotte & I know the owner of this car (how many G50 930 Targa's can there be with no miles on them) and if so, he's an extremely fastidious owner and the family have a old 4.5 litre Bentley in the stable amongst other things too.

Nice (young) chap and I'd expect the car will be mint.

Ian, it's a small world. Yes there are 4.5l Bentleys in the family and everything leads me to believe it's a proper car! It's just that the service history and being a targa dents the salability in the future.

And I missed Nige's comments. That's a good point, I'd want to make sure I was happy with what I'd spent to allow for some fixing funds too.

Hi Graham - I'm stunned it's for sale as he treasures that car.

The dilemma would be putting miles on it - with so few recorded, I don't believe the seemingly occasional servicing should be a problem; nor can I believe there would be any big bills looming on such a low mileage and well cared for car.

i ve been very tempted to buy that .................only excuse i ve nowhere to store a targa ..........however nice, they need to be under cover!

I think anything around £30k makes sense, its not really abt price ............IMO

If you want a nice 930 PM Bert as I think he's possibly selling his Turbo. It's very nice and has been 'used properly' is a coupe in silver.

Just shows the discount for targa models. What would it be worth as a coupe?
£10-15 more?

Well I've done it. After quite a lot of faffing, I've paid a deposit on the targa!
