DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Hi,

We are currently working on a 3.2 911 that the customer wanted to subtly modify. It is not a full back date but is using some mild mods. This includes, removing the front fogs and fitting an SC front spoiler, remove the side repeaters and wing mirrors, fit chrome square mirrors, chrome the headlight rings and door handles, strip and bright anodise all the window trims, fit bright front and rear screen trim, remove the rear over riders and headlight washers- tig the holes up, RS style engine lid, plus we are re-furbishing the fuchs inc some 9 x 16s for the rear.

As I said these are mild mods but yet do personalise the car and retain its IB look.

It started like





and today we finished the re-fit. Just a few jobs remain.

Like it. Very Carrera 3 I'm really feeling the late 70s look at the mo.

Just needs a hit with the 11mm spanner to sort the ride height and black wheel centres...

Alan, in the pic of the mirror, is that a gold '11 in the reflection?
I am really liking early cars in gold at the mo!

I love it Alan - a vast improvement I would say. Thats a character car now.

Thanks for the kind words I will pass them on to the owner of the car. I also agree the car does need to come down a little closer to the tires but maybe thats a job for the future. We do have one more job that we are fitting tomorrow, I will post a pic.

Looks very nice. I did something similar to my 3.2 in terms of brightwork and handles.
I am sure there are others more educated than me on these matters but what about the side repeaters come MOT time?
I removed them as you have done by fitting SC wings but integrated the indicators into some 935 style mirrors.

Absolutely loving this! you really dont see many in this colour. There was one at Classics and it was parked near to mine, I couldn't take my eyes of it

Today we finished the final job. We had the stickers made as the colour was specific. We can now supply Carrera side and lid scripts in any colour

I understand the previous statements RE changing the car, but that is exactly why a subtle approach is attractive to some, as all of this is easy to reverse.

Looks great to me, but I'm biased as its a similar path I have trod with mine. I think taking the wheel centres from white to black would put into the mid 70's just right.

Just out of interest, what mirrors did you use Alan? It looks like they cover the original 'flag' holes?
