It's great to have car ads from Sam @PS Autoart. Hopefully the art of writing will be acquired in tandem with the photo lessons...

Are there many cars that don't start off as matching numbers?

OK we can have fun....it started life in Germany but quickly moved to Italy ?

Perhaps the wrong engine was installed and the mistake spotted before it left the production line, upon which the correct engine was installed ...

I do like the ads though

I think the advert was simply referring to the car starting as a matching numbers car before the conversion

From chats with Georg Konrasheim it seems that the factory may have shipped "non-matching number" cars. He told me that during production of the 73RS every engine was tested for power, and those cars that were being supplied to favoured customers would have had underperforming motors removed and full power, but non-matching, motors fitted. This may be just gossip, but who knows?

Of course it's meant to be a relatively light-hearted comment! Looks a lovely car, but on re-reading I'm still not sure if it has the original engine and box.

It did when KS first bought it I believe? And the advert states that the mileage is thought to be genuine

At last the piece of information I've been waiting for !!

No, that's personal passion to be applauded.

Just to clear things up: when I got the car, it came from Italy with its original engine and box. When I sold it, it still had the original engine and box. As far as I know now, it still has the original engine and box. Simple!

I assumed it did have it's original engine and box, just that the words "matching numbers" have no place in the ad!

Hear hear, I love discussion about cars for sale but discussion about wording in adverts and photography skills seems a bit nerdy and tedious to me!

I think Sam's ads liven up the classifieds.
