928 rally car : Have raised the car an inch after Manx National rally - as it was in danger of getting quickly eroded from the bottom up. Am doing Cork 20 rally in it , in about two weeks time - but decided to do a sprint in the car yesterday to see if this has produced any nasty handling issues. (better to find out in absence of stone walls and trees etc).
Very wet - fitted a camera in car - now on Youtube (search with three key words : rally 928 Kirkistown) ... not very exciting for 99.9% of the population , and great if you are having trouble sleeping !! (3.15 min clip). Anyone smart can put up a link if they like........... at least the noise is nice !! :)

Cool 8)

That looked wet...... very wet! How did you find the handling? seemed nice and controllable when the back stepped out.

Cheers

Yes Mike ... I felt a bit sorry for the single seater men (but I would like a demisting system as well !!)

Richard - Handling was good , I don't remember back end stepping out as much when I was driving it ... so that is a good sign (things were "automatic"). ...... haven't forgotten about your photies .... honestly.

I'm a bit slow ... thought you were in sprint mode ... not Cork 20 mode. (by the way , any rally info / results can usually be sussed out at www.rallynews.net ... in this case btm left hand corner of the relevant rallynews link (event) giving live results ... I digress........

Event went OK , there were only 7 "historic" cars out - we finished third overall , but in no mans land a bit - miles behind the rapid 911 in front (circa 300hp and 960 kg !!) , and comfortably in front of a gaggle of escorts behind.
3 mains problems : Lost clutch for first stage .. drove it all in 3rd gear (possible in that thing) .. and whilst we were slowest , it wasn't by much !
Next issue was the weather - Sat was a terible day , I'm up to nearly 6,000 stage miles on tar , and it was the worst I have ever driven in ..... air flow will be organised better for next event.
and lastly was me .......... have not managed to get back onto the "committed" pace I was on about 10 yrs ago ... must try much harder ....... feathering throttle on quick corners does not equal fast stage times.

Next up Historic cars only rally on 31st Oct - and then the same again for Kilarney in early Dec ... still time for an entry you know (for both) !
