I've had a bad weekend working on my 68 912. Whilst trying to solve the misterious conking out problems I decided to fit a rebuild kit to the fuel pump. Upon removal of the pump I noticed the oil sleeve around the rod within the fuel pump was perished. I read that this is a non servicable part - Great. If this wasn't bad enough, I managed to lose the spring retaining cap that holds the smaller of the springs with a circlip.
Therefore.............Can anybody tell me what my options are? 1. Buy a new fuel pump (expensive) 2. Replace mechanical pump with electric one (any recommendations?) 3. Source a second hand unit and hope seal etc is in good nick ??
Please help.......
Fuel Pump - can anyone help ?
