From experience in 06 after a courier naffed up deliver of tickets etc I turned up sans anything at the Rotunde, after no queuing, a little negotiating (and a not inconsiderable amount of blagging all in English) not one but three tickets were sourced
Then on leaving the Rotunde I marvelled at the small croud who had assembled around my car, which wa a little confusing as it was at the time a well patina'd 2.2 T as a I approached I realised the reason being that someone had whacked the wing
Turned out a marshall had backed into it, then when it looked like he was about to leg it got challenged by a group of Englishers who had clocked that he was about to scarper and forced him to leave his details.
Cynical souls that they were, and bless them for it, they twigged that he would be the sort to lie through his teeth and noted his registration.
A trip later to the local cop shop to get the details for the insurance and it transpires that his details were indeed duff, fortunatley from the reg of his car they found him.
Now my French is pants but when they brought him in I was still at the police station, and he got a royal bollicking of them.
Paperwork all sorted, and a bit of a cash topup my patina'd red 911 transformed into its original colour of signal orange.
So if there was some sort of moral or mixed message from that -
Clouds have sliver linings.
It'll be alright in the end
