It's nearly at £15k already, probably will go a lot higher too.
Looks like they've sorted out the easy stuff and got the MOT just to sell it on.
Both front wings are going to need the previous repairs sorting eventually (god knows what other bodywork will need doing), one of rubbing strips is missing, no horn ring and the "1600" badge is missing. But looks like an OK project as long as the bidders don't go OTT with it.

That was my first Porsche - I bought it in February 1990 and went to the 356 International in Harrogate in it three months later. It was red when I bought it and I had it resprayed in silver. I bought it from a guy in Hammersmith who had 14 356s of various types, I can always remember - he rented an archway of Stamford Brook tube station, I met him at his house and we drove to his storage facility in a 1965 911, he opened the door - the floor and the arched roof were painted white and there were about 20 cars all with white covers over them, 14 356s an immaculate 190sl Mercedes, 3 litre Healy, a big finned 4 seater Mercedes convertible and a load of other things. I'd never seen so many classics in a private garage before. I was completely overawed and bought it straight away. The drive back up to East Yorkshire was the best I've ever had.As I drove through Shepherds Bush on my way out of London, I stopped at a set of lights and the guy next to me looked at my car and gave me the thumbs up ! My first Porsche !

Hi Hendrick, after chatting about your lovely A the other evening and you commenting that these cars so rarely come onto the market, I was having a brief moment.... imagining handing over a few thousand and becoming the proud owner.

Having witnessed what nasties even a concourse winning car can have in store ( sorry James) I reckoned this one would need more than a service.

Anyway, it`ll be interesting to see how it goes, I fully expect it to spiral madly out of the reach of sensible folk... and the cheap bit is the buying it.

Exactly. Lets face it, if you can see previous repairs on the outside of the wings then who knows what the rest is like. New nose, sills, floors?

And if it comes to all that then it will become an expensive car.

3 hours to go with 5 bidders. Only worry for the seller is the fact that the current highest bidder only has a feedback of 7. That would worry me

the same could be said about the seller only having a feedback of 7

£16,600 .... even if it's a bit of a shed, doesn't seem too bad a price to get you into an 'A'

It all depends on whether you can "put up" with the body issues and how long it's going to be before they need sorting.
An eventual restoration will be expensive!

The owner indicated that the car was 'advertised elsewhere' - so I asked where and for how much ?

He responded with a price of £20k , and that it was "advertised in a club locally "

porsche club? working mans club? inside a biscuit wrapper?

I suppose if it is mot'd it means there shouldnt be too many holes underneath, but it isnt a car which would live with me without a decent going over prior to purchase.

I guess it will resurface soon enough ?

It will probably be flipped if the buyer has bought more than he can handle or will could disappear into garage if the buyer wants to keep it and try and do it up.
Might see it around if it is roadworthy.
