Just wanted to say hi and say what a great site this is.....it's no good for my pocket though coz it's giving me sooooo many ideas!
Anyway, I'm a huge car nut and been into VW's since birth (my dad had a '62 bug) and I've had them ever since - too many to remember.

I promised myself a Porsche by the time I was 30 so I remortgaged my house and bought a '99 2.5 Boxster fullly loaded with almost every extra and I loved every minute of ownership.....right up until I had to sell it to spend the money on my house (well I had remortgaged to afford the house restoration).

I have a sob story, my 'mate' had agreed to sell me his '66 RHD 911 for £6k with plate '66 PTA' or £2k less with the original plate 'LYL 2D'. I said hang on while I get the money, when I went back to him he'd sold it to a dealer.....I've never got over it!

I've currently not got a Porsche but would like to build a Chesil one day and while I was searching through for info I came across this site. I'm in no rush to build anything coz I've got enough to do with my current lot and I'm currently trying to get better after a recent heart attack (I'm only 37 so not expected! )
My '62 RHD Splitty

Dirty engine bay

Unrestored '64 RHD N model squareback with 59,565 miles, full history and originally ordered by U.S.Embassy for Sierra Leone......cool and rare.

Plus a few others;
-'59 RHD Bug for resto
-'64 RHD Bug, Porsche wheels, 1776 motor, for resto
-'73 Bug for resto
-'74 1303s BigBug (Limited edition) Full history, great condition
-'76 SunBug (Metal sunroof limited edition bug) for resto
-'73 RHD Westfalia for resto
-'88 Caddy pickup - resto in progress
-'93 Golf GL - I bought it 18 months old and can't get rid
-'06 T5 130bhp panel van, awaiting a 'change'

Anyway, hi folks and look forward to spending a bit more time on here....it's not like I can do anything else at the moment anyway

Welcome to the forum mate - that's some collection you've got there - love the camper especially

Seems like if you pared down your collectino you could be back into a 911 no problem. Hope you get better soon

Cheers

Welcome to DDK and sorry to hear about that shock health problem you had. Hope all is ok now.
That's an interesting story and some really nice vehicles you have or have owned.
Sorry to be a bit specific but can you tell me more about the 911 reg LYL 2D. Do you know if it on the road or where it is now?

Regards
Mike

Sladey - I know I could have a 911 but I can't bare to be separated from my dubs....but maybe I should start getting rid of a few - shocked myself when I started doing the list!

210bhp - All I know is that he sold the car with 66 PTA on it, that has since been taken off and LYL 2D has been put back onto it. It was on the road but can't say where it is now, if you find out please let me know.

Great collection of VW's! Sorry to hear of your heart attack. Do all you can to stick to the routine, and take all the re-hab exercise they offer. Been there, got the stents and the tee-shirt!

And I got my competition licence back! :bom:

Cheers! :drunken:

Thanks a lot, it's early days yet so taking it as it comes. I'm surprised how tired I am though! I've got the stents......still waiting for my t-shirt!
As for the racing licence, never had one so don't know what I'm missing  Your car looks like fun though!

Cheers! Just thought I'd add some piccies of my Caddy while I'm at it, starting with an 'arty' shot.....it's only part way through the resto so please don't think those wheels are staying on it or at that ride height!
