Inspired by paul and his steering box expolits , I have spent the morning with a table full of lock parts.... and I now have a fully working one key set

This may not mean much ,but considering what I started out with it is a miracle

well done. having tried this on a set of a 911T and failed i applude you.

It would be nice to know how you achieved that as I have only one lock that works and my glove box has no key at all. Anyone now if its possible to get a key to cut that works for the glove box on a B t-5? I had been told but cant remember when or where that the glove box lock only had three or four paterns to the key. I am also sure I have also been told that Porsche have the records of the numbers for the lock but cant give out the information due to it being personal to the original cars owner. What????

the easiest way to get your lock working is to first establish if your key actually fits into the aperture - some dont.

if it does , remove the handle, and remove the lock receiver from the handle. you should see the small screw retaining the mechanism in the receiver.
remove the screw and withdraw the lock mechanism itself. (you may need to drill the screw out, or in some cases a brass retaining plug - i had to do both , but the bits i had were very random)

fit the key and you will see which of the lock pins are standing proud.
you now have the option of altering the key or the barrell pins, but as the key already works on one lock I would simply file down the protruding pin/s.

make sure they are flush with the barrell , give it a good lube and re- assemble.

you are lucky as one of your locks works, I wont over complicate things, but mine was a tad more intricate home made receivers, mercedes lock mechanisms and some repro cack all contributed to a mornings worth of tinkering.

my car has no brakes but at least i can lock it now

i forgot to add, i have a few lock parts left over - complete barrell, a pair of handles snd some odd receivers which will do a job if needed. (including a lock barrell)

i also have a pair of new blank keys which are also up for grabs

so what if the key don't fit the aperture? i think i might need the barrel.
