I've noticed on a lot of american 911's & 912's that they have some kind of tray on legs about 2" below the vents on the inside. Anyone know what the point of this is :?:

It's a rain tray, and is fitted to 912s

so where does the rain go when it fills up, does it have a drain on it ?

Do they work, can you get them in this country ?

It basically protects the exposed bits of the engine from rain, you can find them but they tend to be like a combination of hems teeth and buses nightmarish to find then loads appear! Make sure you get the bolts that go with them. They're not cheap either!

Basically to stop water getting into the dynamo - when they crop up they usually go for ~ £40.

with out sounding like Aurther Daily I have a spare one. I would be happy to sell I do not have the bolts but as a Ex Mec fitter I don't see the issue here. If you bought them from Porsche big ££££ make you self ppppp So I will be looking to make some for my one that also does not have any bolts

bit of S/Steel bar drill tap and fit easy..
