Is this not stupidly cheap...

Hi guys,

First post (I think) so hi, long time lurker here. Currently own an old, but water cooled Porsche, a classic 928. (Currently in headgasket mechanic dispute hell but that's another story... :-( )

Anyway, was browsing the classifieds in 911uk and came across this car

http://www.911uk.com/ads_item.php?id=1614

Is this not stupidly cheap for a 2.2S? I thought they were even rarer than a 2.4S and a decent one of those is now £40k+ any day of the week.

I'm seriously tempted to go halves on this car with a friend.

Looks worth investigating. Maybe a DDK member is familiar with the car?

Thought this post would have attracted more comment. I does seem to good to be true - so it probably is. It's the guys first post on that forum - but hey, you have start somewhere. You can't get much of an idea of condition from photos or description - but it does look superb. 2 other 2.2S's for sale on same forum for £48-49K, but LHD.

RHD is ultra rare, can't remember figures, but if you are talking UK delivered it is 20 or so so for C & D series.

Let us know if you get anywhere with it.

If I were in the market to buy one I would certainly check that car out in person. I have a RH 2.2S and have owned 3 other RHD previously and think they are great cars.

Let us know if you take a look

How much

I'd be there in a shot to have a look if I was looking for another, they are making strong money in good nick, if its all there so to speak (even if it needed work) then it could be worth taking on - 2.2S is def my fave early 911 8)

Haven't seen the car for a number of years about 7 if I recall correctly (it used to belong to my dad!)

I'd heard that it went to Scotland

The car was collected from the factory and shipped to South Africa and brought back to London in around '72.

The car wasn't perfect but at that price it's got to be worth a look for a genuine RHD car.

I've no idea what work has been done to it, but the motor had new Mahle pistons etc when it was rebuilt about 10 years ago.

It may well have been sold Friday night? The guy never replied to my email but I know a few spoke to him. The ad was removed by Saturday morning so he either sold it or had that much interest he's going to re-advertise it.

Still think should have had the courteosy to respond but hey who am i to judge

FYI this is still up for sale by the original owner from last weekend. It will likely go this weekend, as there are a few viewing from Friday, so anybody interested should get in quick. Will take a bid in the high twenties, or maybe even £30K, to secure it now.

If anybody wants contact details I can provide.

Ian.

I was interested but you just know this is going to turn into an auction of one person played against another.

Told me yesterday it was offers over £25k.

So what is the actual price? Long bloody way to go just to be made to wait to see what 'everyone' else offers!

Offers over being the key ...

I think he knows he has a lot of interest so will see who wants it most. It's the car that's generated the auction situation rather than him. He seems a reasonable chap.

It's his car and his payback so you can't blame him and best of luck to him.
