Original Porsche 380mm steering wheels - "RS" styl
Dear all
I’m desperately looking for a sensibly priced original Porsche 380mm steering wheel to fit both my 1971 2.2E and S - the costs of an RS version are prohibitive so I have been looking at 914 examples.
For those interested, here is a summation of my research (thanks to the early 911s board mostly).
914.347.803.10 - hard rubber 914-6 70-71 - Direct Fit
914.347.804.10 - hard rubber 914-4 70-71 - Must Remove Hub
914.347.804.11 - hard rubber 72 up - Must Remove Hub & Drill & Counter Sink Hole for indicator cancel ring
914.347.805.10 - leather 914-4 70-71 - Must Remove Hub
914.347.805.11 - leather 914-6 and 914-4 72 up - Must Remove Hub & Drill & Counter Sink Hole for indicator cancel ring
914.347.806.10 - leather 914-6 70-71 & RS - Direct Fit
914.347.809.00 - fake leather 72 up - Must Remove Hub & Drill & Counter Sink Hole for indicator cancel ring
Hope it’s useful for some (and if you have such a wheel you’re happy to let go off please let me know!).

Just sold a 914 wheel needing refurb to another DDKer for around £75 so they can still be found.
I have an 806.10 wheel from my RS for sale in leather but of course it is a lot more costly. Pm me for a price if you are interested.
Also have a NOS (never been mounted) 400 wheel in imitation leather (originally fitted to 72/73 S cars and option on T and E) if anyone is interested.
Regards

I use this as my reference for sterering wheels:
http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/ ... =914+wheel
Andy's (Lightweight_911) response #10 in the above explains what is needed for a 914 wheel on a 911.

So my wheel number is 914.347.804.10 - hard rubber 914-4 70-71 according to the list above. I've read the thread on Early 911S Registry but I am still not clear on what I need to do to my wheel to get it to fit ??
List above says 'Must Remove Hub'. Mine has the 914 cancellation ring on the back of the wheel hub. I might be being a bit thick but I really don't understand what 'Must Remove Hub' referes to. Can anyone help with some illustrative pictures or a more detailed description ?

Andrew - your steering wheel (if it's a 914.347.804.10) will fit directly onto a '65-'73 911 (or '65-'69 912).
When it was originally fitted to a 914 it would have had a deep black plastic 'spacer' attached to the back (held on with 4 recessed screws) onto which would have been mounted the 914 indicator-cancelling ring.
Both the spacer & 914 indicator-cancelling ring need to be removed to fit it to a 911 - hence the (slightly misleading) statement in the earlier post by Magnum "must remove hub".
The indicator-cancelling ring now fitted to the rear of your wheel will be the 911 version (attached via two countersunk machine screws).
