Porsche 911s Targa 1973 This immaculate, European spec, matching numbers LHD Targa started life as a 911T. Having only covered 39,000 miles and already had the “S” pack option fitted from new, it has under gone a ground up restoration and upgrade to 190bhp S spec over the last 12 months by renowned Porsche restoration specialists Abbot Cars, www.abbotcars.com . The car is now in show room condition and there are invoices in excess of £20,000 to accompany the car detailing all the work carried out. This car was found lying dormant in a garage in Southern Africa where it had been since the mid 80’s as the previous owner had run out of money while having some engine work done, shortly thereafter he fell ill and lost interest in the car so there it sat garaged until 2007. Needless to say the body has zero rust and has obviously never needed any replacement panels. Briefly the car has had the following work carried out since Feb 2008. Full respray in its original colour with floor sealed. New original salt and pepper carpets, new full leather interior and new Targa top. Full engine and gear box rebuild to S spec, ported and balanced with forged JE pistons, up rated oil pump, oil cooler with thermostat and new clutch. There are too many things to list here but the engine has been fully detailed to look original and is still under warranty for the next 5000miles All rubbers and hoses throughout the car have been replaced, the brakes have been refurbished and pads replaced. It has also had all the wiring, lighting refurbished or replaced were needed. There are five refurbished full detailed 15inch 6J Fuchs alloys running on 5 brand new Goodyear NCT’s. The car is taxed and MOT’ed till October 2010, the car is tax exempt and the insurance is very low with classic car cover. Feel free to contact me for additional info and photos. Adam 07793287149

Mm. Redline is still at 6400.

Rubbish, as we know an S makes its power at 7200 rpm.

Awesome, this makes my car more valuable as mine now is a rare E with S Carb upgrade. Mine was rebuilt by a leading specialist to his own exacting standards.

Or is my car actually a T with an E engine on carbs and S deco trim and dials?

Amongst other things, for a car advertised as restored to concours standard why is the intake for the airfilter on a 2.4 engine on the wrong way? Oh yes, its because it is the wrong intake. If the one on my car points the correct way, does that make mine prepared to better than concours standards? That dash with the airvents just looks so wrong.

On the plus side, the colour is nice.

Tidy 'T' targa with lightly tweaked engine, probably £18k?

Are those air vents an original feature / Targa speciality ? Don`t recall seeing that sort of thing before.

Agree totally. I'd be more tempted for this one http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C112265/ if I was in the market for an early targa (as I can't afford the 74 carerra targa at Paul Stephens). It was restored by Simon J Robinson as it was his own car IIRC and went for 16K on ebay at the start of summer again IIRC.

They still have the Gulf blue 73 RS rep with 3.0 CIS engine on at £65K. Again, pretty car but not worth that money no matter how much I've had to drink.
