help to find a working old banger ?

a couple of friends are doing a charity banger rally next year the idea is they have to buy a car for no more than a few hundred quid and then drive it on a rally & sell it at the end. all money raised goes to charity.
wondered if we could find them a Porsche ?

you just missed out on a 525i BMW touring!.. a mate snapped it up as his daily, but it went for only a couple of hundred quid with tax/mot
nice as it would be to have a porsche, its prob worth sniffing out some e34 bmw 5'ers and w124 e-class mercs as they're bomb proof, cheap as chips for a 1/2 decent one and quite desireable if you're selling them on as taxi's or as breakers to fix taxi's
guessing a 924 is prob the bargain basement porsche, but even then with an mot and tax its going to set you back £500+ i would think..

Wasn't there a 924 that went to Senegal (The Plymouth to Dakar rally) and another 924 that went to Moscow?
I remember two write ups in 911 & Porsche world?
Surely you can find a faded and oxidised 924 or 944 for under £250 that needs a few roadsigns worth of welding and a slap of a greasy brush over the brake pipes to get an MOT? (however: no smoking =>leaking fuel hose) etc

Doesn`t Mike Bainbridge have an elderly, fully patinated 924 out side his workshop. Probably pick that up for a hundred squids.

You know, when I was still with my old girlfriend, I said that I'm going to do the Plymouth to dakar rally. It all got to the back of my mind really....
