Came across this article in a copy of a 1964 Autocar magazine, relates to a 1600 Carrera raced by Dick Stoop in 1960's. Car has light alloy doors and plastic windows, "rather spartan competition seats" trimmed in sombre cuorduroy and leathercloth lots of more details in the two page article including the asking price for the car of £2,000. This edition of Autocar featured a "Made in Germany" article covering German cars available at that time and mentions the Porsche 901 not yet in production.

Just did a check on the DVLA site and they have no record of a Porsche with that reg (2 LAA). Maybe long gone to the scrapyard in the sky.

2 LAA

Mike, you really deserve wider public recognition for your knowledge of all things "356". Perhaps "Pride of Britain" or something?

Dickie Stoop was well known at AFN he certainly owned some some super cars including a 904GTS. He died on the race track in 68 after suffering a coronary I think driving a 911. He wasn't that old either.

I also think he had more than one Carrera.

Thanks Roy,

Dick raced his 904 GTS in the British International "Daily Express" Race at Silverstone in 1964 with some tough competition.

was talking to someone yesterday and they mentioned this car.
there is a number of pieces of this car left( -unfortunatley not the body though) all tucked away safe and sound maybe to be resurrected someday!
