Has anyone had the pleasure of filling out a DVLA V55/5 in order to register their import?
Just got the form throught the post and it has questions like Unladen weight? (easy) and Revenue weight? (search me!) and things like drive by sound level???
I'm I best just filling out what I can and taking it to my local DVLA office?
Your advice and experience would be appreciated.

I have done quite a few of these now, and basically just go into the local DVLA and get them to do it. Don't forget your documents and also some ID, passport or something. They are also getting much quicker, it only took 24 hours to get the last Tax Disc and Plate number.

If you check the notes that come with the form you'll see that you don't need to fill those boxes out. They are for large commercial vehicles.
Alan's right though the DVLA are getting better. Take your whole 'car file' with you when you go, because they need to see MOT, Insurance, C&E forms (if applicable) etc etc...in other words, the lot!

Got my MOT on Thursday and so early tomorrow morning I will be at my local DVLA office. One question, the V55/5 asks for a Type Approval number, do I need one? And if so does anyone have the Type Approval number for a 1969 911T.

It is true, I went to the DVLA office and feigned stupidity twice, within a month, and they filled in the rest of the form for me (outside of the basics- I even had a guess at the engine number on one of them and then rectified it at the inspection end with a smile)
So my advice-
work on looking simple
in my case it only took a couple of minutes
