I have the opportunity to buy a 58/59 complete matching numbers 356 which requires restoration from the USA
I only require the shell. Glass and handles, my question is would the market for the rest of the parts be better in the USA or UK

I'd bring it over complete - it's as much (or more) hassle shipping a shell as it is a roller. Fewer 356s broken for parts here than in USA, too.

a lot depends on what is left - glass and handles are straightforward, but 'shell' could mean almost anything.
depending on availability and condition i would be interested in the following -
bumpers -front and rear
interior -seats, floor mats , door panels ,dash top etc
guages
brakes
engine
gearbox
wheels
food for thought ........

cool - i have a container being loaded in nor cal soon - there may be room to squeeze another 356 in there if you are buying the car from California -
(or anywhere withing viable trucking distance .. buget 1$ per mile from oakland for delivery/collection )
good luck - and if you get the car please keep me posted -

i would also be interested in engine and windscreen, door handles inside and out, ignition key and barrel, horn push, carpets if usable ratty,.....and any other parts i find are buggered on mine as i do the resto, possibly all the running gear ???
deffo worth bringing the whole lot over, the yanks have loads of parts to choose from, you have a much more appreciative and needy audience in the UK
