SVA

I am in the process of building a replica speedster. I have completed the rolling chassis and have rebuilt a 1600 engine. I will shortly be ordering the body and the rest of the bits needed to complete.
My main dilema at the moment concerns the SVA. Chesil say that it is not required ! Pilgrim say it is !
some people have said it depends where in the country you live !
Can anyone help me out here. I live in Cornwall so if there is anyone in this area that has recently built and registered a replica I would be pleased to hear from you and find out how you got on registering your car.

Welcome aboard.
If you use the serach facility at the top and search for SVA you'll find a couple of threads dealing with this.
Shambly on here has some experience.

Any chance you can expand on this ? Ie where in the country, and what do you, dont you need to tell them ?
I have just been to the Pilgrim factory and placed an order for one of their bodies, Tony (the boss) says that an SVA is definately required. They however have not got their demonstrator vehicle through the SVA yet, (which i find a bit scarry) However they are putting it through again on Monday. Minus bumpers, inner door pulls, side trim etc. They have also made covers for the front grills, and the rear engine grill, and have re fitted the original beetle steering wheel. This as well as fitting side repeaters, fog lights etc.
There must be a self builder out there some where who has put their car through and is willing to share some info with us new builders.

I have some old kitcar magazine articles about Chesil first putting their speedster through SVA if this helps anyone. Happy to send out photocopies of them.
