Just realised that although I have been a watcher on the forum on and off for a while, and now have joined and have a login (even posted a few times!), I have never got round to introducing myself - how rude.

Apologies about that - so Hello to you all.

I am an early porsche lover mainly since my friend got a late pre impact 911T 2.4 Targa when he was 17 - git! He converted me from loving 308's.

I nearly took the plunge about 8 years ago in buying a red 73 (I think) targa in Overton (Hampshire) but bottled it and had a car to sell first. Though the car wasn't as good as the seller was making out!

So, now I am about to be made redundant, and am wondering if I can really justify taking the money from under my 2 yr olds face and splasing out on an early 911.

Still not decided, but thanks so far to those who have helped on a couple of postings I have made.

If I find another job quickly then won't have spent the money, so will have to see how much guilt I can put up with!

Anyway, just wanted to say "hi" and that there are some really lovely cars on here. A lot of lucky owners.

think of the purchase of the early 911 as an investment not only finachally but also in your 2 years old future education

Bad luck on the work front - if its any consolation, the best things in my career have come from the motivation I got from being made redundant

And, as another 'ampshire lad - I really ought to organise a drive / meet / beer

Absolutely you should purchase an early Porsche. Choose wisely and it will indeed become a good investment for your child's future (if they actually ever let you sell it to anyone except them of course). It would almost certainly give a better return than keeping the money in a bank at the moment.

If you also happen to get some enjoyment from the car in the meantime then I'm sure you could manage to put up with that unfortunate side effect of your investment.

Firstly bad news on the job front but good fortune with your new search.
