Hello...

Thought I'd just drop in and say hello after lurking here reading for the past few weeks.

I've recently sold my 997 and am now on the hunt for a nice 1971-73 911. I'd prefer a RHD S - probably a coupe, possibly a Targa - but would consider a T or E if they were really nice.

I'd like a really solid or fully restored car as I plan to use it as my main form of transport - although admittedly this is only at the weekends as I travel into London on the train every day.

I've got a pretty decent budget and have been to see a few cars and also visited Export 56 and Alan at Canford Classics. I've seen the RHD S Targa in the For Sale section, but I'm not that keen on the colour scheme to be honest. I've also contacted the seller of the 73 Hotrod in the US as that looks great, but it is a bit left-field.

However, if anyone has any leads to cars that might be suitable I'd love to hear from you!

Welcome to DDK Simon.
Sounds like you should be able to end up with a very fine car.
Even after a 997 you won't be disappointed with a good example of an early coupe. Especially an 'S'.
Take your time, it might be a while but they do come along.
We'll be sure and keep an eye out for you.

i am very seriously thinking of selling mine. which has just had a major restoration

its 1968 SWB 911s in tangerine. matching numbers with full history and original elephant hide interior. new carpets and headlining.
i'll be looking for £45k.

yup, (its insurance value came out at over £50k) i'll be making a massive loss. but heyho!

but all the other 911s i can find on the market lately have been under £30k.

Thanks for all the replies and pointers to cars for sale. I like the look of Helen's car and it's certainly in the condition I'd like, but I've decided that I don't really want a SWB car.

I'm going to keep looking for a 2.2 or 2.4, probably a T in really great condition. However, I'm still really tempted by the 911 Turbo Hotrod up for sale on the Pelican Parts Forum.

Has anyone here got experience of importing a car from California?
