fuel pump question...

are the fuel pumps interchangable between an A and a later B/C/912 ?
my fuel delivery is non existant - easily explained by the total blockage of the fuel pump (14 years of crud, and ancient diaphram- 1600 normal 59A motor -)
after removing/stripping and cleaning the offending item things were no better really - so i ventured into the world of rebuild kits and replacements on the tinterweb...
it seems that my old A motor is wearing a later vertical style pump rather than the correct horizontal item-
So before I buy a rebuild kit can anyone confirm that the later pump will actually pump on my motor ?
thanks in advance

Sorry, not sure of the answer, but why not give Paul at PR Services a call? He'll know and is an awfully helpful chap, a proper gent, one who stands head and shoulders above others.
(Is that enough to get some extra attention when my car is there next month Paul?

The fuel pumps on the 356A (like mine) and the early 356B cars look vertical to me. The later 356B and "C" cars are looking more horizontal. If you visit
www.stoddard.com you will see they do rebuild kits which include all internal parts for both types. ( includes the diaghram ). I presume you have some books to see how the parts go together?
I reckon if your pump is vertical then you have an "A" pump look at the photo of mine below and see if its the same.
Check that all bolts can be removed okay before you start and threads are not stripped. The casings do not seem to be available so check that part out before ordering pump kits. I could possibly photo some pages on how the parts together if you are stuck.[img][img]

thanks roy -
i would describe your pump as horizontal (the diaphram position at least) and my engine should have one just like it ...........
the actual pump fitted to my motor is of the later style with a vertical diaphram position..
ill give paul a shout in the morning , i need to speak to him about some parts as well actually

Hello...
You can use a late pump on an early engine, you will need to use a little spacer which we have in stock at KK.
We also have new late pumps and rebuild kits for early and late in stock.
